Did you get DigiView to work WITH your modem connected to the serial port?
If it still doesn't work, then you may have treated the symptom rather than
fixed the problem…
I don't know how the Color Splitter is made; someone else may already have
answered that question. I do have a Color Splitter between my laserdisc
player (Pioneer CLD-3030 — which does an excellent "freeze frame") and the
Radio Shack 1-by-3 Baseband Amplifier that NewTek USED to recommend to
split the signal (without (much) loss of signal strength) between the
DigiView unit and my A1080 monitor. It works pretty well.

Well, while I digitize I never use my modem, so there is no problem
disconnecting it (I'd say I found a way to avoid the problem, not to solve

Is there contention between the Digi-View and the serial port? I've never
attmpted to use my modem while digitizing, but would be interested to know
if there was a problem.
The problem is that *I can't digitize* with the modem connected to the
serial port (it doesn't matter if it's turned OFF)! As soon as I disconnect
the modem Digiview detects the video signal… Incredible don't you
think??!?

Yes it is incredible. I have a modem hooked up to my serial also, plus my
digi-view is hooked up to an A/B switch so that I can switch to my printer
or digi-view unit without unplugging stuff. Mine works fine, though I have
the older Digi-View w/ a gneder changer.
Pin 22 (Ring Indicator) of the serial port can effect the SEL (pin 13) line
of the parallel port in the Amigas. Disconnect pin 22 from the cable going
to your (Supra?) modem and all should be well.
