Anyone know who the 68040 vendors are? I've saw one ad for a 68040/25 accelerator in the July AmigaWorld. Is a 68040/35 being marketed yet?

I believe that adds for 68040 accelerators may be a bit premature. I don't believe Motorola is shipping 68040's as of yet. Jeff Schweiger

NeXT has already announced they will be shipping 68040 NeXT machines this Winter, so Motorola must have promised a release date. — Ethan

That's true, Developpers are getting beta versions of the 68040 now but won't be able to have the production run before fall… and maybe not before chrismast! And also add to that the fact the the first versions of those 68040 accelerators will probably have a couple of bugs in their design so do not expect buying one of those before nest summer! That's my point of view! **** Pat ****

The 68040/25 hasn't even been released (officially) yet! People are pre-announcing. Commodore is working on such a card for the A3000 (don't know about the 2000), and it is a safe bet the GVP is also doing such a card. — Ethan

Sure hope there is one for the A2000 as well… Geez.. getting hard to play 'catch-up'… first I need an accelerator for the 2000, then I need to get a 3000, and they're already talking about an accelerator for it! <grin> –Eet– Director of Mayhem Extra Terrestrial Imports, Ltd.

Those guys who advertised an 68040 accelerator in thhe July Amigaworld have even not finished the prototype board yet….! they don't even know if they will be using autoconfig memory (<= 8 megs) or addmem memory (Up to 32 Megs). Be carefull with those adds in magasines. **** Pat ****
