I have created a brochure using ProDraw and ProPage, I had some
pictures scanned in 24 bit format. The output on my zerox 4020 is what I
want to achieve of course I had to convert the pictures to ham. I am using
The Art Department so by what I have heard and Read I can use the 24 bit
pictures and color seperate(?) them and dump down to a postscript printer.
I have located a printer that can handle postscript files but he is running
Macs and IBMs. My Amiga has a bridgeboard so I think that I sould be able
to convert the Amiga PSfile to IBM and print with that format. I would
appreciate any input as to how I am suppose to do this. Thanxs in advance

I can't help you with the bridgeboard, but you don't even need one to
convert an Amiga file to an MS-DOS file if the person with the MS-DOS
machine can handle 720K, 3.5" disks. In the AmigaTech forum there's a file
(I don't know what it's called) that will let you set up one of your drives
as an MS-DOS drive, then you can just copy files to and from it. Of
course, if you don't have much CLI experience this is probably not the
route for you. But as I said, I can't help with the bridgeboard because I
don't have one.

The name of that program is MSDOS.LZH, in Library 1 (a new version came out
just last week.)

Do you and your printer (human, not machine) have a modem. If so, just send
him your PostScript file and have him download it to his MSDOS machine. The
PS file is just a plain ASCII text file and is universally accepted. The
file will work on his equipment as received, but may be hard for him to
actually read unless you add carriage returns to the linefeeds that the
Amiga uses as end-of-line terminations. Most communication programs can do
this (Access! and OnLine! are two that can).

David, Why not just send me the files? I've got a 2400 dpi photo imager
with postscript RIP. I also have an Amiga 2500 connected to it. We support
the Syquest drive using GVP and KRONOS controllers. I'd like to try it for
you. We also use ProPage 1.3 and Pdraw 2.0, also have the art department.

0773 ext. 4444. I'm rather new in the service bureau biz but we're getting
better at it all the time. Sure would like to use our Amiga more often than
our MAC, but it seems that amiga dtpers are far and few between.

Postscript files with scanned bitmaps can be pretty huge; believe me, I
know! What I have done is save the PPage file to disk as a PostScript
file, then ZIP the file, using PKAZip, to greatly reduce it's size. Then
transfer it to IBM format by using CrossDos (a $20 product) or your
bridgeboard. Actually, since you have a bridgeboard you could use PKZip on
the PC side to compress it. Since the same company makes the IBM and the
Amiga version, they re compatible. Modem transfers can take a while . . .
I've printed out many things from my Amiga at an IBM service bureau with no
