Craig: When I got my Xetec, I had to change the Operating System jumper for ROM version 1.3. They were shipping with the default set for 1.2. I would assume they've changed that, but you might check. Also, did you run the Make Auto-Boot utility in the Xetec utilities drawer? If you change your power source jumpers, be VERY VERY careful that you get these exactly as shown in the manual. Otherwise you could buck the two power supplies with disasterous results. As far as HD utilities go, I use the Xetec X-Chive for backups. It's not as fancy as some of the commercial back up programs, but it's reliable and it's free (you should have it in your Xetec utilities drawer). As far as HD optimizers go, I just picked up the shareware "Optimi.lzh" and find it useful. Kind of slow, but again effective and reliable. Don't forget to send the guy the $$$ if you like and use it. I can tolerate slow on these types of utilities if I know they're solid. I used a PD HD backup utility that came on an Amiga+ disk a couple of years ago, and I never could recover the data. Very frustating. Hang in – you'll get it. George – via Whap!
