Hi Russ. MIfont currently converts fonts into standard Amiga bitmaps and
PPage .metric files only. However, we have been getting alot of people
asking for more variation on the kinds of fonts it converts from and also
on the different kinds of metric files it creates (there are at least 3 wp
packages that use PPage-type metric files and Amiga bitmap font
combinations and it wouldn't be that difficult to adapt the program in that
direction). All I can say for now is that we're giving it serious thought.
There's just somuch that can be done in DTP on the Amiga. It's difficult to
know which way to go next. Talk to you soon. Gary.

Dont mean to be dumb, but I guess I'm still a little fuzzy on this concept.
I am happy with what Prowrite can put out on a Laserjet for instance but
the problem seems to be getting screen and printer fonts to match so that
you have WYSIWYG. Will MIfont help with that ? I think Prowrite will use
the PPage .metric files will the bitmaps match them on the screen?

MIfont currently only converts Macintosh PostScript screen fonts and Mac or
IBM PostScript Type 1 printer fonts. From these, it creates standard Amiga
bitmap fonts and PPage .metric files. I'm afraid I'm not too familiar with
the HP fonts and how you are able to download them to your printer. Also,
I'm not sure how Pro Write uses fonts, though I assume it uses something
similar to PPage's Amiga font/PPage .metric file formats. We are currently
considering expanding what kind of fonts MIfont will convert from and to,
but there are at least 3 Amiga WP packages that might fit into the Amiga
font/.metric file system and it will take us awhile to sort it out. If we
decide to expand MIfont in this direction, more than likely the way we will
go is to generate HP fonts FROM Mac PostScript fonts, as well as
program-specific metric files for each WP package that uses them. I hope
