Thank's John for your advice. I had in fact already spent what seemed like
ages backing up the drive in case so you can imagine how hacked off I was
to find that the software would not run.
On reflection what you say about the user manual/2090 controllers makes
perfect sense as I see that the manual was last revised in 1987!
I'm having a lot of fun with the 1500 and even have a little space left on
my desk now. Only other problem is that I had 3mb on the a500 but was
unable to get my hands on any Simms yesterday. As a result my startup
sequence needed drastic surgery to prevent 'out of memory' gurus. Strange
how we take things for granted until we no longer have them.

Glad everything is going smoothly so far with your 1500 Joe. Funny how the
machines get changed slightly, but the manuals never manage to catch up.
I'm curious about the 1500. Does it have the IBM slots like the 2000? I
don't think we will ever see one here in the states, but you guys always
get the nice goodies before we do.

Yes John, it is a B2000 but commodore have simply put stickers in the
relevant places proclaiming it to be an Amiga 1500. Other than that and
second floppy drive as standard there is no difference – all the
zorro/AT/XT etc slots are there. No great innovation but C= have included a
good bundle of productivity/games software and the price is lower than
B2000's were selling for over here.
You shouldn't complain – what about the A2500 ? And wasn't there a beefed
up A500 on sale in the USA which we couldn't get over here? And what about
the trade up offer to the 3000 which we haven't got over here.

Thanks for the info on the 1500 Joe. I'm curious about the base price of
the 2000 vs 1500. Is the 1500 cheaper? Sounds like there isn't much reason
to buy a 2000 if you get an extra drive, plus all the other standard
options. Ok, ok, I was wrong about you guys always getting the new goodies.
Is the 3000 Tower available in Europe now? I know you can get them in
Australia, but I'm not sure when we will see them here. Estimated date is
the end of August, but you never know with Commodore. I'm beginning to
wonder is Ados 2.0 will ever be released!

I don't think there is a price difference anymore as dealers seem to have
reduced 2000 prices since 1500 launch. Although the machines are the same,
many dealers are still advertising them as if they weren't. 1500 seems to
be marketed in its basic dual floppy form whereas the 2000 is usually
advertised with various configurations of hard drive/ bridgeboards etc.
It's all abit silly really and confusing the hell out of the public.
As regards 3000 Tower, Last I heard, it was coming soon. That was a couple
of months ago and I haven't heard any more and certainly I 've not seen one
yet. Ados 2.0 will be nice – have Commodore given a firm commitment yet
regarding upgrade of 2000's ? Everyone seems to assume this will be the
case but I'm sure I haven't seen an official statement from C=.

Thanks for the info on the 1500 Joe. Seems like the 1500 was just a
marketing ploy by CBM to have an excuse for dropping the price on a
repackaged 2000, while at the same time trying to make the business users
believe that the 2000 was a better machine.
In regards to 2.0, CBM's only commitment so far is to state that Ados 2.0
will be available for the 500 and 2000, when is another story. I'm not sure
if the first release, due shortly I hope, will be just the Rom/Disk version
for the 3000, or if it will also be the 500/2000 versions. Maybe one of the
developer's here can enlighten us.

Get a good sized map of Washington State. Look in the Southeast corner
close to the Oregon border. We are about 6 miles north of Oregon and about
100 miles West of Idaho.
