dear louis – just picked up MapMaster-Lightwave today – congrats on an incredible product ! your images are unlike anything i 've seen to date from any rendering program ! the ham images don't do any justice to the actual toaster rendered images – btw, i've already tried to use the images with imagine's altitude mapping, but the results are disappointing compared to lightwave's multitude of options. any hints on optimizing imagine's mapping (short of making me buy the imagine version 🙂 kevin

….thanks, glad you like Map Master, it is more difficult to get the same quality results in Imagine but outstanding effects are possible there too. WIthout giving all the particulars, I've found that negative images give far supirior results in Imagine…and this is how they are offered in that package for all the rest….you'll just have to get it 😉 Louis

I have a question concerning your Surface Master for Imagine, would it be possible to get ahold of 24-bit IFF files of your screen shots? That way I would be able to convert them to HAM-E format files. Or have you thought of releasing a version with HAM_E shots? Joe

SInce the market for such versions would be severely limited I opted not to do them. However, tis is precisely the type of reason I included all the objects in the package…and the .imp files for Map Master…so you could recreate the screens, in whatever format options you have available. Louis

Louis, << …it is more difficult to get the same quality results in Imagine [than in Lightwave] but outstanding effects are possible there too… >> Since I don't own a Toaster — but do have Imagine and an FC-24 board — I can't help but be curious. Why is Imagine more difficult? BTW — congrats on two great packages: Surface- and Map-Master! Terrific work! Pete

Thats a tough one…but Lightwave now has a feature called Pixel Blending which makes smooths all the pixels and eliminates grain. The grain is more or less exaggerated in Imagine by both the closeness of the object and the depth setting of a Altitude map. IN addition, lighting is easier in LW and lots of people have had trouble with lighting in Imagine….nothing major….just a bit more work to figure out. Also LW automatically wraps the brush (image) with no need to set axis sizes and position….another thing many have trouble with Imagine (Hey thats what Map Master is all about right?) Louis
