C CLASS COMPILER ?

I've a question about the upcoming C programming course starting on
Wednesday. Is there a recommended C compiler system that should be used for
the class? Is the DICE compiler sufficient or do I need a commercial system
to be able to do the work? I'm totally green when it comes to any
programming, although I've tried to read about it, and do a few examples of
basic, and postscript. I did try the C course last year but fell behind the
class due mostly to other duties that kept me off-line. I'd like to start
again but I imagine the compiler I tried to use the last time has been
updated or surpassed with some other system that I think I'd better DL
before the class gets stared next week. Any suggestions would be most
helpful to me.

I found DICE quite good and complete. Check it out before you buy a C
compiler. I think you'll be happy with it. I know I am.

I have the SAS C compiler (which we use at work) I also have DICE. I
will try to make sure all the examples work on both.
Vic, I want to attend your C class but won't be able to be on the CO's
because I'm long distance so the cost will be prohibitive. Will you have
transcripts of the classes available, lessons, etc. for downloading?

Yes, transcripts will be uploaded. I _just_ finished uploading the
transcript from last night (intro, etc.). Lectures will be uploaded as
well and should be posted by Fridays/midnight (PDT). I'll put a message
here in the C Programming section whenever I upload something for class.
I'm sorry you won't be able to make the Wednesday COs, but feel free
to submit 'homework' I'll read everybody's.

I'm VERY interested in learning C on the Amiga. How Long are these
classes? I usually work until 8 Central time, so thats 9 your time. I
Doubt if I'd be able to attend the CO's. I will however download the
transcripts and such. I have Lattice C Version 5.01 (I think), It's not
5.10 or higher. Will this do?

Whatever gave you the idea that I was on "Eastern" time. I'm on Pacific
time, and 8PM CDT is 6PM PDT. Which just happens to be the time class CO
starts. Hope to see you.
Sorry, Seems to me things are always scheduled in Eastern time here on CIS
(Maybe I should read these things first eh?) In any case 8 PM is still too
early for me, by the time I get home from work it's going on nine. Oh
well, maybe I'll take wednesdays off. <G> I'm sure I'll be able to check
in once and a while though. Lature.
