Kevin, John – Don't salivate too much. I believe IBM owns a fair amount of both Microsoft and Intel. They are not into cutting off toes. And remember, Excel, MSWord etc that run on both platforms. There may be other plans for MS in the IBM/Apple agreements. wmc

Wayne – I thought that IBM sold off all of their Intel stock a year or so ago. (?) Personally, I think IBM just likes to collect UIs <grin>. NeXTStep, etc. I suppose by having so many agreements, they can more easily keep track of what potential competition is up to 🙂 As for Microsoft… I wouldn't mourn a bit if ten years from now, no one knew who they "were". Well, okay, maybe a little bit… but only because I have so many friends who work there. cheers – kev

RE: "I believe IBM owns a fair amount of both Microsoft and Intel. They are not into cutting off toes." Don't allow that argument to lull you into too much assuredness, Wayne. Apple owned almost half of Adobe when it decided to beat on it. Of course, one of the first things Apple did was sell tons of Adobe stock. For what it's worth department, —GeM
