#DOWNLOAD SPEEDS

Hello!
I hope you can help me with a bit of a puzzle, regarding downloading. I
have been using a 1200 baud modem and JRComm 1.02, with an Amiga 1000. My
best download speed using Compuserve B+ protocol was around 119 CPS.
Then I upgraded to a 144 V.32bis SupraFax modem. I changed to a higher
speed telephone number (tried both 2400 & 9600,) and my download speed is
now a blazing 119 CPS. I am able to succesfuly download at high speeds
from several BBS's. However, no matter how I set my modem, the top speed
(downloading) is the same at 1200 baud or 9600 baud. What am I doing
wrong?? Compuserve has printed several articles on cost/speed/value, so I
believe they think higher download rates are available at higher speeds. In
short, HELP!!! ANY insights would be greatly appreciated.

Silly question…but at what speed are you setting your terminal?
Presuming you're setting it at 9600 baud, and dialing in on a Compuserve
9600 baud line, you should be getting speeds approaching 960 CPS.
