I thank each of you who kindly responded to my question about the 2500 v.
the 3000. I have learned alot and am much more comfortable with my choice.
In fact the only program I have been unable to run is a game: Emerald
Mines. Somehow the game's copyprotection is triggered and the altered
version of the game runs which you get if you try to make a copy. As for
hardware glitches…I have spoken with the local Commodore tech. He said
that he has been sending ALOT of motherboards from the last batch of 3000's
back to PA and heard there are boards coming in from all over the country
with the same video glitch. I do hope NewTek makes a Toaster for the 3000,
and it appears doubtful at present. Anyone heard of anyone making a 3000
compatible alternative? And I do wonder…When (if?!) the ECS becomes
available, with the new 2mg denise chip, will the Toaster still need the
old chip to work?
Video glitch? What kinda of video glitch?
About the only problem I have seems to be my 1950. I can have the
adjustments just right and have no screen bounces. Anywhere else, the
video is not stable and bounces up and down like I were in an earthquake.
I too would love to see NewTek release a 3000 version. I hear the upcoming
release of their software makes it unneccessary to remove the ECS Denise.
I know a few people who have Toasters in their 3000s with little or no
problems at all so far…
