Robert, Here's a little more info for you on the A2320. The A2320 will only work with a multi sync monitor only, not a VGA monitor as the VGA's have a small difference in horizontal scan frequency from what the A2320 puts out. As stated in the manual; some of the supported monitors are Commodore 1950, NEC MultiSync, and MuliSyncII, Mitsubishi Diamond Scan, Zenith ZCM 1490 Taxan Multivision 770 Plus, and AOC MultiSync CM-314. The output connector on the A2320 is a DB15 female VGA-style connector. I remember when the A2320 first came out, There was a couple of people who complained that the A2320 did not fill the display screen completly and there was up to 3/4 inch black border around the picture. You may have to ask around about this one before you purchase a monitor. I think someone said that a Taxan monitor came pretty close to filling the screen but the size controls were all the way to the ends. I have the Diamond scan by Mitsubishi that had about a half inch border. I was lucky enough to get inside the monitor and make some changes to get a full screen. I like the diamond scan because it also has seperate NTSC input also. MIKE EGAN 71261,3013 =>

Mike, Ah, thank you! This is the kind of detail I needed. I take it from what you say, that if I buy a multi-sync monitor then I CAN use a standard 15 pin VGA cable. This will simplify things greatly for me. I am still open to suggestions on monitors and am particularly interested if anyone out there has had any experience with the C.T.X., Aamazing, Packard Bell, or Viewsonic multi-syncs. I probably won't be taking the plunge for approximatly another month. Thanx again. Bob Kline – via Whap!

Don't always believe everything you read on the package. I'm working right now with a Goldstar GT3051 VGA Monitor ($199) and 2320 card. It works fine NO FLICKER You just can't use it in bypass mode. But all the resolutions are usable in standard mode because the 2320 does double lines in low res. I haven't had a single problem. I just plugged in the 15 pin vga cable that came with the monitor and went straight to high res flicker free. The screen isn't quite as nice as multisync and you do get a rather large border, but the flicker is gone and it only cost me $199.

Robert – If you are buying a new monitor, then in most cases it will come with a cable. If it is a DB9 then usually it will also include a conversion plug that will adapt the cable end to the DB15 standard. Generally you will not have to worry about a cable. – Roy Pahnke – Casper, Wyomin' – Crazy Mountain Software –

Thanks for the input Roy, I think I am narrowing in on the Aamazing monitors. I'm trying to find out from a reliable source what the scan ranges of the CM 8484EX are. I think it scans from 31.5 to around 38 and has a dot pitch of 0.26. If this checks out, I can pick up the monitor for around $315 mail order. Can anyone out there confirm these numbers? If not, I'm going to get the manufacturers' number from one of the mail order places and ask them directly. (Probably my best course of action anyway). Bob Kline – via Whap!
