GVP Compo + EGS 110/24

OUTLINE. THIS MUST BE SEEN TO BELIEVED (AND APPRECIATED) AND CAN OFTEN NOT
BE DONE BY MANY HIGH-END WORKSTATIONS. [ note: sounds to me like the
board/software allows you to drag around windows – and when you do, it
doesn't draw lines, it draws the ENTIRE window imagery as you drag. This
is an operation not possible on the A3000 in superhires mode even… ]
Software (and hardware) developers will be interested to note that it is
possible to port the EGS libraries to nearly any Graphics output device. In
fact there are already implementations for several Amiga graphics boards,
including the native Amiga custom chip set! An application using the EGS
libraries as the can be run (the same unaltered executable code) on any
graphics system supporting the EGS libraries as the libraries themselves
convert the output into something the system can display (by automatic
dithering, for example). [ note: hey, this suspiciously DOES sound like
DIG! ] This also means that software developers can develop and test EGS
compatible applications on a standard Amiga! GVP is interested in
licensing the EGS libraries to any other hardware developers and, if
necessary, will even assist in porting the libraries to other graphics
boards at a small fee. The EGS libraries are expected to become the new,
hardware independent, graphics standard on the Amiga. [ DIG ] Note that
GVP will NOT licence the EGS Workbench driver as this uses proprietary
software technology [ gee, CBM couldn't do it any better or as on-time 🙂 ]
What about software? This is of course the big question, especially on the
Amiga. Until the EGS-110/24, high resolution graphics boards on the Amiga
were only able to be used with software specially written for each
particular board. This limits the usefulness of these boards as software
developers (except 2D paint programmers!) are reluctant to develop software
for small volume, nich market, products. Enter the EGS-110/24! Being a
GVP product, software developers know that the
