Can QB backup multiple hard drives to a Syquest cartridge like Ami-back can?

Donovan, Quarterback can backup to Syquest Cartriges in two different ways. The first mode would be to treat the Syquest as removable media. This mode would limit you to one partition per cartridge but allows you to have a backup that spans several cartriges. The second mode would be to treat the Syquest as an AmgiaDos volume and to back up each drive to a separate AmigaDos file. That is interesting about treating the Syquest as an AmigaDos volume. I think I'll try that and see how it goes. Thanks for answering my question.

Hi, Pardon me for jumping in here. I have a Toaster-configured 2000 and am still somewhat low on the Amiga learning curve. I have a SYQ88 and Quarterback. When I format the SYQ88 using QB5.0 or one of the GVP utilities, the SYQ and cartridge operate like any of the other drives. After I use QB to backup my Quantum drive to it, however, the Amiga no longer sees the SYQ88. I'm sure this is a fairly simple problem – that I just don't understand. Is there a way to get Quaterback to backup a hard drive to a SYQ88 in such a manner that the cartridge can still be used as an accessible drive for routine read/write operations – assuming the backup operation doesn't completely fill the cartridge? John, Fortunately it is quite simple to use your Syquest cartridge for both backups and to store files on. Instead of choosing Tape/Removables under the backup options requester, Choose AmigaDos file and specify a file name on a Syquest cartridge formatted as an AmigaDos volume. This option is useful if you wish to backup several smaller partitions on one Syquest cartridge. The Tape/Removables route is useful for very large partitions that require more than one cartridge to back up. Randy Brooks Central Coast Software A division of New Horizons Software, Inc.
