#Vistapro/AA Conversion
6 messages in this thread
Anybody know if there are any utilities available to convert Vistapro
output to AA format? My AA converter doesn't recognize to version of the
PCX file when I try to read it into the converter. The converter doesn't
seem to handle VANIM files at all

By AA do you mean AutoDesk Animator? If so, I will be working with
various AutoDesk tools and compatibility issues this week, and will
hopefully be able to state where we stand and where we're going in that
area by next weekend.
VANIM is our own raw binary format, so you're not going to find
anyone out there who can read it.

Yes, just regular Animator. I saw a FLI animation in this forum which
supposedly created with Vistapro and converted. I figured there was a
conversion utility available for it. Scan the libraries in this forum for
'vistapro' to find it. Is there any way I can be notified or find out when
these utilities have been written or what their status is?
Thanks

I will post in COMART, GRAPHVEND and here when I have the
utilities finished. I'll save your name and ppn and try to remember to
email the announcement to you, but I get alot of requests and it's easy to
forget which request goes with which item. Safest way is to check
GRAPHVEND each week or so (scroll rate is plenty slow over there) to see
if I've posted and then look in the VRLI Lib for it.

Ellison, In COMART you can get a program called BFLIC which will convert a
series of PCX files into an FLI animation. It's in one of the DL's and
also comes with a player too. It works perfectly with VistaPro's PCX
output files.

Ellison – Have VistaPro output to PCX rather than VANIM. Then the PCX files
can be converted using CONVERT.EXE (using Animator, not AAPro) (each one
has to be done manually as macros are not supported {Booo!}). Once they are
GIF files, most of them can be loaded as frames of a flic using a macro or
manually (if you like mindless repetition). If you've done this and it
doesn't work, that's mysterious. I have done it without a hitch on a number
of occasions. The pallette I end up with usually has to be tweaked pretty
big time to get something other than earth tones in it, but it works. Are
you sure you have the resoplution set correctly in VistaPro? AA's convert
only deals with 320×200 (I think) which is the VistaPro resolution I have
set. Hope that helps a bit……
