Kevin; I stand corrected. I didn't realizem that when you said that 3ds was saving a 4096x4096x24Bit file that it was the lastrend.img file that you were talking about. At any rate I was using the null display driver and rendering to disk and I has supplied a file name in the \3ds2\images subdirectory. I searched the whole disk, no GIF file was created. Yesterday I rendered the same file to disk at 2048×2048 in GIF format and it worked fine. The status line said mem=12832k swap=11308k and the resulting file was less than 100k. I would think that with 90Mb free disk space I could make this waork at 4k. Many thanx for all of your hellp Please excuse spelling, no line editing! Jon

Jon, Looks like doubling the memory will prevent you from doing any page swapping on a 2k image. Kevin Krell – Computer Support Associates
