3D Studio speed improvement with VMI's RenderReady(tm) technology…
There has been considerable discussion on this forum about cards and
drivers which will improve the performance of 3D Studio. There is no
question that 3D Studio is a compute intensive application which normal
drivers can minimally speed up.
VMI provides a 3D Studio driver with its AutoMate/PRO software which takes
a unique approach to increasing the productivity of the 3D Studio user.
AutoMate/PRO contains a proprietary technology called RenderReady(tm) which
allows the user to render in half the resolution of the display card they
are using (which means you only have to render one fourth of the full
screen pixels). The RenderReady algorithms replicate and reprocess the
rendered image to near photo-realistic quality for full screen resolution

I would be VERY careful in this forum about using the term
"photo-realistic" and "8-bit" together…

I have seen examples of VMI's Cobra 8 bit 'photorealistic' color which are
pretty darned good… whether they are using the same techinique in a
non-proprietary fashion, I don't know…

I get about the same effect by rendering a quarter-sized image until I'm
ready to see a full-screen. All I have to do is change my screen size in
render/setup/configure from, say, 640×480 to 320×240. This costs me
………. nothing (quite a bargain!). What is you software doing
differently? Do you spread that quarter-sized image over the entire screen?
If so I don't know if that would be very clear to look at.
