Online! problems
1 messages in this thread
I've been using Online! for several days now, and overall, am quite pleased
with it … especially considering this is its 1st release. I am having a
couple of problems though, and am looking for some advice.
First, the various terminal emulations don't seem to be working at all. I've
tried hooking-up to the VAX at work as both a VT100, and a VT52, but *nothing*
happens in either of those modes … even the characters that I type don't get
sent (i.e., the SD LED on the Hayes doesn't flicker at all). I get *nothing*
from the host, either. I don't think it's the termcap on the VAX side, as it
is for a VT100, and gives me no trouble when I use the Wyse-75 … any clues?
BTW, I'd appreciate it if y'all at MSS would explain just how much of the VT100
is emulated, as I will probably have to tweak the termcap a little bit anyway
(or might you have a termcap for 4.2 BSD you could post).
Second problem I'm having is on file xfers from the capture-buffer to this SIG.
One message I sent got really futzed-up, and I sent another message that
detailed the problem, but haven't seen a reply as yet. (It was right after
Christmas, so you may have been on vacation). These messages have scrolled
off, but I notice that Paul Kuhel mentions a similar problem in Msg #4158.
Only things I can think of are that it might be necessary to filter the LF's in
the file I want to xfer to CR's, or perhaps we need to use inter-character
and/or end-of-line delays. Are any of these techniques needed?
Thanks alot for any light you can shed on these problems.
