#Dumb SCSI question.
4 messages in this thread
Folks,
here is my dumb question:
Are the 2090, 2090a ,2091, 2091A CBM disk controllers SCSI ?
if so I presume SCSI-1 not SCSI-2 ?
I they are I think I have a 2090 ( autoboot ) on my a2500. Can
I just plug a tape drive ( SCSI ) and use some of drivers found
in the libs to tar to/from it ? If this is not a SCSI card
is there a LOW cost SCSI card for the amy I can buy ?
Can I use AT-bus based SCSI card on my Amiga ?
THANKS!

Ed,
I have a rather early 2500, and mine came with a 2091 card, which is SCSI.
I have two hard drives on it, and recently added a Commodore 3070 tape
backup which plugs to the external SCSI port. No problems at all. I use
AmiBack (commercial software) to run my tape drive.
I'm using an Archive Viper scsi tape drive (250 meg) connected to my A3000
with a 2091 controller, and use AmiBack software from moonlighter. No
problems here.

Ed,
If it's autoboot…it's either an A2090a or an A2091. If it's got
an ST-506 port, it's an A2090a, if not…it's an A2091.
Both (in fact…all you listed) are SCSI too. And yes, you can
just plug things in and use one of the drivers here in the library such as
BTN.
