I must apologize for my earlier postings. I have gotten some of my backups restored (I haven't finished yet). If I use 5.0.1 I can get the backups restored properly. But sometimes it takes more than one try (ie. separately restore directories taht fail ona whole disk restore). I guess 5.0.2 will not read all 5.0.1 directory structures. I assumed (wrongly) that 5.0.2 would restore ANY 5.0.1 backup Kev

Kevin, Yes. It appears that in some cases, 5.0.1 wrote backups that could not be read by either 5.0.1 or 5.0.2. So, it is strongly suggested that backups done with 5.0.1 or 5.0 be redone with 5.0.2. This really only applies to floppy backups, but tape users will also gain in redoing backups. The order in which files and drawers were backed up has been optimized so that restores are always as fast as can be from tapes.
