I might be able to help… As far as bringing in animations from the Mac, I'm assuming you're using PICS files… If so, give Frank a call at Equilibrium Tech. regarding Debabelizer. This MacApp converts a number of Mac File Formats (including PICS and PICT) to PC file formats (including .FLI). It also has a number of image processing features that might also help with reducing the file size. Inspite of what others may have said, I use AniPro everyday for 16 color work. Infact I use it to manage graphics for games where I need to use a specific 46 colors in the palette, and leave the others alone. AniPro has alot of control over the palette. Another couple of ideas to help you reduce the file size: 1. Look for a couple of POCO files somewhere here on the forum (Compressa.POC and Compressb.POC, or such) they're intended to reduce video captured file sizes, but at low settings may help… 2. Try using the ONE PALETTE command in the Palette controls, its a long shot but might help. Just what is going on in your animation to make the file larger than its sum? I don't really know what is happening in the anims to make the file larger than the components files, but is surely is… Thanks for the clue on the Mac file util, I'll follow up. You're right about the PICS files; that's one of the options that I have. The "brute force" method I mentioned is going all the way to a set of PICT files, which is easily done in Director, and then bringing them into Ani Pro one frame at a time with NUMPIC.

There is no reason to expect the sum of the GIF file sizes to be greater than (or less than) the size of a FLC. The GIF format uses a compression technique that is very effective. A FLC is concerned first about getting the information up on the screen smoothly and second about compression. If large areas of the screen in a FLC are unchanging, you'll get a small FLC. If every pixel in the screen changes every frame, you'll get a large FLC. Chuck Jameson Silver Tongue Software

Thanks very much for your reply…the deltas reported by ANIM pro are about 11KB, and that threw me, but you are right, the pixel changes for each frame are large. Thanks again…
