#very poor support
2 messages in this thread
Hi,
I missed the begining of this, but I had to put my two cents in<G>.
Before I agree "Autodesk, very poor support" I first have to say that the
forums here on CIS is the best support anyone could ask for and not just here
in Autodesk but, every where on CIS.
Support from Autodesk direct or from the dealer what's that??? You
would think after buying Generic Cad, two copies of Autocad 11 then upgrading
to ver. 12, and buying 3ds a person could get support! I really didn't need
support until a dealer sold me 3ds ver1 in place of ver2. This dealer did this
once before with a Borland product, when I tried to get help from Borland to
correct the problem, the dealer took me to court and I lost a lot of money. I
tried to get some help from Autodesk and what I got was accused of copying 3ds
illegally. And they kept my copy and removed me from the mailing list, SOME
SUPPORT!!!! Someone owes me a big chunk of money as far as I can see.
Well anyway I'll use what I have until it's outdated but I will not buy
anymore products from Autodesk!

I'm sorry. I'm missing something. (questioning look on face)
Your dealer sold you a 3DSr1 and wouldn't help you upgrade to 3DSr2?
Or 3DSr2 was readily shipping, but your dealer sold you 3DSr1 because he wanted
to clear his stock in the backroom?
In either case that dealer needs to be reprimanded. As long as you have
original 3DSr1 diskettes, I don't understand how anyone would accuse you of
using an illegal copy of the software. Therefore, you should have had no
problem upgrading to 3DSr2. If you opened your 3DSr1 and found the
plastic/foam pack open or found what looked like non-Autodesk (black/purple
label) disks, you should have confronted your dealer immediately and asked for
an exchange.
As for trying to get help from Autodesk and being accused of copy software
illegally, I have to ask who at Autodesk you spoke with?
You should also have had a registration card in the package. If you filled it
out and sent it in, you should come up in our database. It also lists your
serial number. If you want help, I can try.
Here's what I need.
Did, or do, you have original disks?
Do you have your registration card?
What is your software serial number? (should start w/ 660-??????)
Who is the dealer who sold you this?
Do you recall which Autodesk department you asked for help?
, or the phone number you called at Autodesk?
Send this to me via mail, and I'll see what I can do.
