Help, On my antiquated A-500 floppy system it doesn't look like I'm going to be able to use AutoPilot. Therefore to save connect-time I am composing messages ofline and uploading them in the forum. My problem is that when I do this it starts a new subject string instead of letting me reply to a given message. Does anyone know how to upload a message as a _reply_ rather than a new subject? —Rich

Use the command "REPLY XXXXX", where XXXXX is the message number you want to respond to. It ain't pretty, but it works. Bob

Robert, Pardon my ignorance, but use that command where? —Rich

At the messages prompt in the forum. If you're using an automated access program, I can't help you; I use TAPCIS and it handles this for me, so I dunno how to do it myself <g>.

Robert, Where do I find TAPCIS ? Will it work on a floppy system? —Rich

Richard, TAPCI$ is an auto-nav program that runs on msdos machines, and you can find it by typing GO TAPCIS at any CIS prompt. It will run on a floppy system, but of course, you may not be able to take full advantage of what it has to offer.

>>How does AutoPilot answer replies.<< Richard, Well, AutoPilot is an automated system, but it won't answer replies (or messages) for you. You still have to write them yourself. <g> After you have read a message that AP has collected, there are some buttons (gadgets) that you can click, giving you many choices of what to do with the message: you can REPLY to it and save it as either a reply or CMail, you can ORIGINATE a reply, you can go read the next message without replying… etc, and you do all of this offline, without incurring connect time charges. You can find a description of AP in library 9 of AmigaVendor, and of course, you can post any questions you might have about AP in the WHAP/AP message section.
