I see that Benchmark Modula 2 is now owned by Armidillo computing. Is that a new owner? Who are they? Anybody know the story here? Prospects for future support? Thanks. — Art

I wonder if they also got the rights to M2Sprint! Wold be great if they updated that for 2.x/3.0. The new company name is probably Leon just pulling another scam/dodge :^/ wmc – via Autopilot!

Thanks. — Art I talked to Jim Olinger of Armadillo Computing this weekend. Evidently he has bought Benchmark from Leon Frenkel, and plans to upgrade it in the future. He mentioned code generation for 68020+ processors and double precision floating point support. I'm hoping we can work something out so that his company will use the AmigaDOS 2.04 interface modules I developed for Benchmark, and can spend their resources on compiler improvements. > Fm: Wayne Cole 76370,621 > To: Art Steinmetz 76044,3204 (X) > > I wonder if they also got the rights to M2Sprint! It does not appear that M2Sprint was part of the deal, but you should check with Armadillo Computing. > The new company name is probably Leon just pulling another scam/dodge :^/ I don't think so. It seems that Mr. Olinger has made a big commitment in buying Benchmark. I hope he can make it pay off. If you are interested in the product being improved, now is the time to express to Armadillo Computing your opinions and desires on what should be done. Jim Olinger is on Bix. The Internet style address I have is jolinger@bix.com. Tom Breeden 75210,2424

Tom, I talked to Armadillo regarding M2Sprint. They inidcatd that they only aquired the Benchmark product. After I mentioned a little about the way Leon treated the M2Sprint owners, the gentlman I was talking with said that he might possibly offer a cross-over discount to those who can prove M2Sprint ownership. In my mind, this is a very fair offer and I hopew former M2Sprint owners will give them a call at 512-926-0360 and at least request being put on the mailing list. I hope this company is not victimized by the long lack of support of Benchmark and the lack of any American produced/distributed M2 package. They seem to have good goals and more scruples than the former benchmark owners. My hope is that theycan succedd while maintaining the goals and scruples intact. ' wmc – via Autopilot!
