#CD-R Technology
3 messages in this thread
Hello all! I'm researching a project which would involve recording music onto
CD's and I am trying to find out about the technology. I'm interested in the
manufacturers of such equipment, prices, and generally every last bit of info I
can get my hands on…<G> And in case you're worried, no it's not an illegal
pirating project, it's a business idea I'm trying to develop! Any help would
be much appreciated
Philip,
This is an interesting subject, one I'm trying to learn more about myself.
There are a number of aspects to study: the music part itself (you need
well-engineered musical data or I'm told the CD will make it sound even worse
than it might on tape or vinyl); the analog-to-digital conversion process; the
CD premastering; and finally the CD "burning" or "pressing" issues (depending
on whether you plan to do one-offs or mass replicated discs.
By all means, ask questions. I'll do what I can to find answers for you, or
(even better) find some people to come answer them better than I can.
Welcome.
Kathy
Philip,
Another thought — you might keep and eye on the library for this section —
we're planning to add some files soon that may help your quest.
