I've got my new Adaptec 1542C working with my Apple CDSC on my 486. The adaptec recognizes it as a Sony CDU-8001, which I suppose is what it really is. The only problem I have is a delay on each boot: Waiting for SCSI ID #0 . . . How do I tell the adapter not to worry about finding a drive #0? I want to boot immediately, even if my CD is not attached. Any comments will be apprectiated. John

In the CTRL-A setup screen, under the advanced configuration options, you need to disable "host adapter bios", and disable "system boot controller by host adapter bios". You do not need to change any dip switches… Mike Cassano
