I've decided to buy a CD-ROM drive, and starting browsing the PC Catalog in the 'mall'. My qualifications are: internal, MPC-2 compatible, 300 kbs transfer rate, <300 ms access time, Kodak Photo CD, multisession, and can be connected to a Pro Audio Spectrum 16 or SoundBlaster 16ASP sound board. Here is what I found. Access Kodak Multi- Inter- Model Time Cache Photo Session face —————– —— —– —– ——- —— Chinon CDS-535 280 256 Yes ? SCSI NEC CDR84 280 256 Yes ? SCSI Procom SICD-DS-M1 200 254? Yes ? SCSI Talon TA-200 280 64 Yes ? SCSI Texel DM-3024 265 64 Yes ? SCSI Toshiba 3401B 200 256 Yes Yes SCSI Whether they are multisession capable is the main question mark. Also, is the Pro Audio Spectrum 16 SCSI port really good enough to support any of these drives. Are there any drives (matching my criteria) that can connect to the SoundBlaster 16ASP? Are there any other drives I should consider? Thanks, Tom Schindler
