The faster the processor, both in speed and capabilities, and the more
memory you have, the better your CD ROM will work.
It should work fine with your 386, but you might have some jerkiness on
full motion video due to speed and throughput.
The Pro Audio cards are fully SoundBlaster compatible, so don't hold
yourself to a SB Pro if you see a better deal. Just make certain that the card
is SB COMPATIBLE and you'll be fine. Also, when buying the NEC (a good unit),
make sure the model number has a -1 after it (i.e. 84-1) or says it is fully XA
or Kodak multisession compatible. Early models, including many in bundles, do
not support this while later ones do and the price is the same.
