The Burst rate applies to SCSI drives and is the rated speed that the drive can
transfer the contents of the buffer. A good rate is 1.2MB or better, but can
be limited by the burst rate of the card and software. The 1/3 stroke access
time is often used as average, while full stroke is worst case. The transfer
rate is the speed of transfer of one sector of data, but this may not be the
continous transfer rate which should be 150KB over a sustained period of
several minutes and without using more than 40% of the total cpu time. If the
drive is not rated as MPC compliant, but as "compatible" then it may not meet
the spec, but be able to do much of the mpc stuff with some sound dropouts or
jerkiness in the video.
