I'm trying to find anyone who has (successfully) connected an NEC CDR-74 drive
to an IBM PS/2 with the MCA bus. We're trying to use an Adaptec AHA/1640 host
adapter for the MCA bus, and we also have the CorelSCSI! device drivers.
Do we need to load both the ASPI4DOS program and the Corel driver, or is it
one-or-the-other? Is MSCDEX required in either case to allow DOS (IBM DOS 5.0)
to access the CDROM drive? If anyone can show me what they've coded in their
config.sys and autoexec.bat, it might be helpful.
Or should we be connecting the CDROM drive to the SCSI port built-in to the
PS/2. I hear IBM wants about $250 for the cable to connect the NEC drive to
their (proprietary) 60-pin SCSI port. Does anyone know what other software we
need to do this?
Thanks for any help.
