My Apple CDROM won't eject CDROMs (or audio CDs) without a restart,
giving a "Disk can't be ejected as it is being shared" (or words
to that effect) message; although I have a small Appletalk network
here I get it even with Appleshare turned off and everything else
on the network turned off. Any ideas? Rod
Try turning File Sharing off in Control Panels\Sharing Setup. If this is the
solution (and you presumably want Sharing on normally) you can build a macro to
do this with CE Software QuicKeys, using the System 7 Specials Turn File
Sharing On/Off. Nico Macdonald

System 7 File Sharing 'locks in' any mounted volumes when it starts up, even if
they aren't explicitly shared. To avoid getting your CDs 'trapped', don't start
up with a CD in the drive. When starting up, wait until the Mac reaches the
Finder, and then at least 20 seconds more, before inserting any CDs. This gives
File Sharing time to start up.
