Rod: System 7 File Sharing 'locks in' any mounted volumes when it starts up, even if they aren't explicitly shared. To avoid getting your CDs 'trapped', don't start up with a CD in the drive. When starting up, wait until the Mac reaches the Finder, and then at least 20 seconds more, before inserting any CDs. This gives File Sharing time to start up. David
