I'm looking for information on one-off machines. We are planning to produce a disc in the next few weeks, a second by Christmas, then go to a bi-monthly or monthly production. The one-off unit will let us check the discs, and make changes, as well as distribute short runs to those involved for editing and proofing. I was offered a 'plug-and-play' Phillips 'solution' by one organization, but in my 10 years of working with PC's I've *never* had a plug-n-play ANYTHING. My second question relates to CD ROM production, ie: actually making the discs. What type of facility and investment would be needed for that? Our 12 discs/year would not make it worth while, I'm sure, but since we are having trouble finding a publisher it may make sense in the long run to control our whole production, and do production for people who are in a similar situation, not being able to get a publisher to handle their materials. The recent copyright problems, and hysteria over BBS pornography has made many publishers leery of handling any graphics discs — especially those with nudes, or art images. Our discs are all original, and copyright cleared, and should not break any 'reasonable' laws in any states. While not for sale to minors, they probably do not fit the classification of "adult" either. We'd like to publish a monthly series of images ranging from sceenics to nudes, that are BBS legal, as well as inexpensive for a person to own. We'd like to make LEGAL images available to all the BBS, by making them affordable, and regularly available.
