#C= HD floppy and BB

Is anyone successfully using C= HD Drive with a 386 BB and Flipper? I
recieved the drive yesterday (changed eject buttons to fit in my 2000),
hooked it uo to the floppy cable, and everything worked great! Tied it
into the cabling on the bridgeboard and whammo! all kind of problems; the
drive just plain don't work unless flipper is running, it will not
recognize hd floppy formated to 880k at all (says no disk inserted) ect…
I adjusted the setiings in PcPrefs and in the Setup Util but still
problems. It works ok if Flipper is running and it is a brand new
unformatted disk (or even an msdos formatted disk). Strange…
any comments

I have a 2000 fitted with a HD drive, running 2.1. I use a patch called
HDFixer which solves the problem of swapping DD and HD floppies in the
drive. (this is fixed in 3.0) apparently). I have put my 386 in my 3000
now, but I had no trouble reading 1.4meg PC disks on the 2000.
Don't understand your remark about changing eject buttons. For me it was a
matter of simply taking our the DD drive and fitting the HD?

HDFixer does not help with the DD formatted HD floppies. Everything
works, sorta. Did you have to run Flipper when the BB was in your 2000 in
order for the amiga side to recognize the drive? I only sporadically use
the BB so I wouldn't run Flipper until I needed to use the BB, but without
it running the HD drive is dead even to the amiga. It does work
flawlessly as a 1.44 meg msdos drive (installed windows last nite without
a hitch).
On my drive, the eject button was to large to fit thru the 2000 face
plate, so I had to change buttons in order to get the face plate to fix.
I'm just happy to have the drive but some of the idiosyncrisies (sp)
are a pain. The BB is almost useless without it.

I am chopping and changing so many things all the time I can't honestly
remember exactly how the BB worked in my 2000. I do have the HD in my 2000
without the BB, however, and I can read and write both msdos and amiga HD
floppies, ans well as 1.4Meg MAC disks with AMAX II +.

You actually got one!?? Where did you order it from? I've been "Backordered"
at Kasara Microsystems for MONTHS! I guess Commodore is finally getting them
out to the distributors… I'll watch for the UPS guy soon. (The ONE product
Commodore can sell thousands of, and you can't get 'em!)

Don't hold your breath yet! I got mine used from a member here on CI$.
I too got tired of waiting (the 386 bridgeboard is almost useless without
it). It seem to work fine but there are some idiosycrisies. You plan on
using yours with a bridgeboard?

Glad you've got most of the problems worked out! (I'm beginning to miss it
already. My AMAX is in the 3000, and now it doesn't have an HD floppy.

BTW, I see you're putting together an external case. Have you DL'd my
rambling description of how I went about making one? I think it's in the
AmigaUser text library.

What is the name of your file re external case Erik? My case is suppose
to be in one day this week (but the simms for my GVP board and the zips
for the BB were suppose to be in last week (and the week before last)).
Sounds like it may save me some headaches!

The filename is BILDIT.LHA, and it's in the AmigaUser Lib 12. (I notice
there's another case-building story in there too, but have forgotten the
name of that one.)

Glad you like the floppy! (I don't really need it back..Given the current
scarcity of them, I guess it wouldn't be fair if I had 2 HD floppy drives
all to my self. :^)

Someone at Safe Harbor explained that CBM had only a single supplier on HD
floppies, and all supplies were being used for 4000 production (they
apparently can't make enough of them since the Toaster 4000). So you'll
have to blame NewTek (at least in part)…
