#Animator pro upgrade
7 messages in this thread
Just a question concerning Animator Pro. I have found a lot of use for
this program by itself and when used together with 3D Studio. My concern is
that I no longer see Animator Pro advertised. In fact, it was not mentioned in
the Autodesk annual report (I'm a stockholder).
Could you indicate if Animator Pro will follow a continual upgrade path
at Autodesk or is a expected to be a deadend like the Chaos program?
Also, if upgrades come along, I would like to see a resident VTR
controller in the program as in 3D Studio (render to video tape) so as to avoid
the necessity of huge disk files.
Thanks, Mike
Mike,
I don't now why you aren't seeing ad's for AniPro, but I'm sure the product
will have a long life ahead of it. Its features are a MUST in the 3DS
solution. Maybe the reason that you aren't seeing many ad's is that the sales
may be driven heavily be 3DS sales.

Included within Animator Pro is a program called FliTape which is exactly
what you want! Pages 4-1 through 4-22 of the "Utilities User's Guide" that
came with the program will tell you all about it!

Do you use FLITAPE or do you find it more convenient to load the flic in 3D
Studio as a background with no mesh (Video Post) and render to tape that way?
Just an idea that was useful one day. Maybe someone else will find it useful
here.

We do both here, and prefer the 3ds background approach. I just mentioned
FliTape in case he didn't have 3DS.

Thanks for the reply,
Actually I use Flitape a great deal but my understanding is that I must
save the rendered APro flics first on disk and then run Flitape from the DOS
prompt.
What I would like is each individual flic frame sent out to VTR as it
is rendered in APro. Then I never need to use a disk in between the operations.
The flic can then exceed any limit I have due to disk space.
This is what I do with the 3DS VTR control.
Am I missing something??

No way. Just render a few hundred frames, take it out to tape, and do it
again.
