Reboot with 3Dstudio

Hi,
I talked to someone from Autodesk a few days ago on compuserve about a reboot
problem I have when trying to read or make a flic. At first I thought it was
the driver for my high resolution graphics card (Spea Graphite Hilite). But
when I try it with the standard 320×200 rendering option not using the high
resolution card but th standard build in PC card I have the same problem. Then
I thought it was related to the version of 3Dstudio r2.0 but with r2.01 the
problem remains.
Can someone help me. Could it be a problem related to an MS.DOS 6.0
incompatibility with the dos-extender or with 3Dstudio ???
Additional info: my Pc is an Olivetti M6-440 Suprema 20MB ram 486dx2 66
overdrive.

I hav the same problem when I do too many edits in the Keyframer, or if I
render test files past about 15. I still have the problem even after I added
16MB RAM (more). Does anyone at Autodesk know what this might be? 🙁 This
happens at the worst time, right before I wish to save. Alan – Hords of Fun!
I just solved my problem 2 days ago, the problem was external to 3Dstudio, in
my Autoexec.bat file I called the vvesa.com file used with the internal ATI
card in my PC, the vvesa.com was the following version delivered with my latest
PC in may (Vesa Super VGA Bios extension 1.2 (VS911022) implementation 2.01.,
however if you go to the ATI forum (GO ATITECH) a new driver implementation
2.15 is downloadable since 15 July
this one solved my problem, don't know if it is the same as yours, because my
PC rebooted without ever starting to read or write a FLC, FLI, etc….
🙂 hope your card uses also vvesa.com, so watch your drivers because after
having had problems with other software, I know a lot of the time drivers are
the problem, they conflict sometimes with one another, so try reading only one
at a time by putting the REM statement before the others in your Autoexec.bat
and in your other batch files. Maybe then you can find the corrupting file.

Thx, but nope, don't use that. Tell you what folks… I'll upload my config,
autoexec, 3DS.SET files though. How bout the cfig386 statement? 🙂 Alan – HOF!
I don't know but I'll look my 3D.set file up, to see if anything in there can
give me a clue to your problem. I'll let you know, by the way what version are
you using of 3Dstudio 2.0 or 2.01?? As you say cfig386 could also be the
problem, how is it configured for you??
