#3DS book name contest!

Hey Greg,
What do you think of holding a 3DS book suggestion contest?
While I was at the family's last month they all had a good laugh over the names
of the books, and started making up alternate titles:
Glass & Reflection became Crass Genuflection, history of profanity amongst the
clergy in the 18th century.
Shaping & Lofting became Gaping & Wafting, a study of various clothing
fasteners over the years and their varying degrees of success (special section
on Velcro: Miracle or Madness?)
Morphing & Animation became Morphine & Subjugation (use your imagination).
Maybe we should hold a contest on the forum for the best alternate title?
Prizes would be free books (supplied by me, not you!). I'd want your help in
judging it, though.

Sounds like a great contest.. Where can I get your books.. does any place in
Detroit area carry them? or is there some place that can take a plastic, PO, or
company check? preferably I would like to look them over, although I am certain
they are first rate. thanks Dr Dave

As for writing the book with the winning title, I leave that to you… with all
that free time you have on your hands. <g>
Perhaps another contest we could run could be "Guess which places in the world
Greg Pyros has NOT been to." I've been following the travelogue here in
Section 3 and Geez, you do get around. I'm starting to feel a bit like a
housebound hausfrau. <g>
I left a message for Craig Sharp regarding the possibility of another book on
making Acad drawings that will be immediately usable in 3DS. From what I can
gather you and your staff probably know more about this subject than anyone
else in the world, certainly from the architectural end. Your thoughts on this
venture (Is it needed? Is there enough material to fill a book?) would be
appreciated.

Shouldn't Visual Link be the best way to bring AutoCAD drawings into 3DS? Or
were you thinking of using plain-vanilla AutoCAD only?
How about a book on bringing files in not only from AutoCAD, but from many
different 3D modeling programs (AutoCAD, MicroStation, 3D Concepts, Alias
Upfront, etc.)?

Yes, Visual Link would seem to be the most logical way to go from AutoCAD to
3DS, but I am not sure of its retail price. I imagine it's under $200 so it's
reasonable to assume the serious AutoCAD-to-3DSer would have it, and I would
gear the book in that direction.

You must think I'd look nice with gray hair <g>. I'd either have to research
them myself (too much time) or find others who know them, then pay them or give
them royalties, and get all the technical work checked, etc. etc. (Remember, I
am self-published these days.) With research on 3DS topics at least I can use
the knowledge in my work.
Hey, why don't YOU write those other sections? I'll give you a percentage of
the profit, after the exorbitant marketing fees are deducted along with
editorial fees, the Just For Being Michele fee, plane fares to exotic holiday
locations etc.

P.S. I wonder how some of the humorous material in the book translates to
Portuguese, particularly the reference to "day-old oatmeal" in the
Presentations chapter and, of course, your S*IT directory.

A title could be "How To Get Anything From Anywhere Into 3DS"! We could get
JKJ to do the section on GIF-DXF for VistaPro, too!

I would gladly get out of the business with just a _little_ help from VRLI. <g>
Seems like there is enough interest in DEM->VP->DXF and back to embarrass them
into writing a conversion program!
