Does anyone know if there is a 3D styling, rendering, most or all
features of 3DS, software package that doesn't cost 'quite' as much as 3DS
Maybe this is the wrong place to be asking, but I just do have 3000$ at my
disposal. Thanks!
Go to the Graphics Developer forum in the Graphics Forum, and download
MRAY.ZIP, POVIBM.ZIP, POVSCN.ZIP, POVDOC.ZIP, POVPAN.ZIP, and, if you need to
do keyframing, PV3DV1.ZIP. The combination of these programs will give you what
you're looking for, and with the exception of MRAY, and PV3DV1, are all public
domain. Your final images will also be RAYTRACED, which something surprisingly
missing from 3DS.

I read about one in a relativly recent PC or BYTE magazine. The interface
looked pretty weak but aside from that the reveiwer seemed to think it was
pretty good deal at about $1000.
