I having a problem recording my animations and maybe someone can help . I using a truevisions targa+64, a Panasonic AG-7750 and a BCD-2000A controller. The problem is when the animation is played back it jitters about on the screen. I was not having this problem when I first started recording animations. (1 month ago). I have some questions and maybe my answer lies with thoses answers. 1. Is it ok to use the same tape over and over just adding to the end of the last recorded animation ? Can the tape strech from back and forth work out it gets from recording? 2. How do fields work? I tried rendering an animation to fields and it played back very blury? 3. What switch settings are other users of Panasonic AG-7750's using. 4. What brand of SVHS tape is best to use? Thanks in advanced for the the help Steve Clayton

I have found that after putting a few animations to the same tape I start to get the same problem. I think that it has to do with a slight stretch that occures in the tape. 1/2 inch tape is not as rugged as 3/4" and 1". I usually use a new tape now whenever I have anything that is really important. If this doesnt correct your problem you might check out your sync signal. is something not syncing right? First make sure fields is on. If you have fields turned on when rendering, the jittering is most likely due to your field order being reversed. Check your 3ds.set file for the field order value. That should do it for you. Yann Bertaud – I.D.L. Autodesk

Steve, Sounds like a time base problem. When you play the animation back, be sure to have your TBC on "local". Also, be sure to stripe the tape with LTC on audio track II (its a little more precise for single frame animation). I typically, put down both VITC and LTC. Also, be sure to have a stable signal comming from the Targa card when you stripe the tape (I use the TPCLEAR screen which is a nice blue). Watch the animaiton recording … is both the "frame" light and the "servo" light comming on before the frame is recording. Also, set your preroll to the default of 5 sec. Ang
