To David and Mark, I spent a long time talking with an ex-Commodore employee, who was high up in Commodore. He told me things that would make you want to cry. Great ideas crushed for crazy reasons. Great people sacked over petty politics… the list goes on. As editor of an Amiga magazine I'm constantly faced with the option of slagging off Commodore or getting on with the job of telling Amiga owners how better to use their machines. We are not the poepl who will shape the future of Commodore. The World economy and company politics play a far greater role than any one persons care for the life force we've expended helping make the Amiga what it is today. I say stop wasting time ripping whatever vestiges of credability are left in the Amiga world to shreds and get on with Amiga computing. People have been predicting the demise of Commodore for years now. It hasn't happened yet. If the day ever comes, I don't want to have to turn around and say, wow, I wonder how much what I wrote or said contributed to that in some small way. Fact is, if Amiga crashes, the PC world won't be looking to healthy either. Take a look at it now and you'll quickly see there are just as many companies slashing staff, dodgy products being passed off as workable solutions or half baked ideas killing great ideas… at the end of the day its what pops out the other end of the computer – the literature, art and science we achieve that's important. If the Amiga is a better way to make those things happen, as an Amiga journo that's what you should be concerned with David – not the internal workings of an industry run by a few key people and impacted by forces more complex than you or I will ever understand.
