Flics and data rates!?

Peter: We have a product that doesn't do exactly what you're looking for, but it does solve your problem <grin>. Smacker will compress your flic file, and will then figure out the proper amount of data to preload for the frame rate that you choose. So, to play a 30 fps animation off a 150 KpS CD-ROM, Smacker will automatically preload the amount of data necessary to keep up with 30 fps. Smacker can also simulate the speed of a CD-ROM using your hard drive – using command line switches you can cap the transfer rate of your hard drive to 150 kps, 300 kps, or 450 kps (we even simulate the slow CD-ROM seek time, when the animation loops around to the beginning). ->Jeff
