Hi, I'm a little confused here, I just bought a double speed NEC CD drive that is SCSI 1 and 2 compliant (model CDR-84JD-1 if it helps). I would like to set it up so that the SCSI device is shared between the 4091 controller and the Emplant's built in SCSI controller. While I've had the 4091 for about 2 months, it is only now that I'm actually connecting something to it. My question is, because of the active terminator board that comes with the 4091 needs to be connected (according to the manual), should I connect the devices as: 4091 — to Emplant SCSI port — to CD ROM — to active terminator board or do the controllers need to be on opposite sides of the chain, for instance: 4091 — to CD ROM — to Emplant SCSI port — to active terminator board Basically, what I'm looking for is a setup that will allow future SCSI devices to just be added to the chain, be it in the middle or at the end. My second question is, if I'm using the active terminator board, does it means that no matter how many devices are being hooked up, I need one more connection empty for the active terminator exactly, or can I have a cable with 6 SCSI conectors where I only use the connections that are necessary and having the last connector plugged with the active terminator IC board. Sorry for the long winded question, but I'm very new to whole SCSI way of attaching devices, not to mention the fact that I'm trying to share these devices amongst two SCSI controllers. This will give me the most flexible way of using CD and removable HD between Amiga, MAC and IBM systems, all residing in one machine (with the help of the EMPLANT, of course) Thanks for any help here….
