Can anyone compare the two Sunrize audio cards? What I'm wondering about is if
the 12 bit card can do everything that the 16 bit board can do? Is the latest
version of the software available for the 12 bit board? Is audio resolution
the only thing lost by purchasing the 12 bit card, or are there other important
functions that aren't available on it?

The latest STudio16 software will install for either board. The basic
differences between the two boards is that the 1012 is only mono and will
handle up to four tracks of sound. The 516 is stereo and will handle up to
eight tracks of sound. Both will record sound to a CD quality sampling rate.
With the 516 your can pan between the right and left channels. Other than that
they work very much the same. It depends on what you are doing and whether you
need stereo output.

My dealer is going to be ordering the 1012 for me. To your knowledge will this
come with the 3.0 software? Also I've heard that the latest version is 3.01,
do I get this version by going through a BBS? I'm hoping that 4 tracks are
enough for dialogue, effects and music. Stereo will have to wait.

The 1012 board will come with the 3.0 software. Its not much use without it.
Version 3.01 is still in the beta testing stage and isn't available. I am told
it will be sent to registered owners as a free upgrade. Hope this help. The
manual is excellent by the way. It is quite a program. A great program and
board, in fact. You'll love the cuelist module.
