#Toaster genlock ?

After a long a drawn out battle, have now managed to get all the Toaster 3.1
software on to my hard disk. The Toaster board is installed – and has an input
from the black burst generator on Input 1. Program out to NTSC monitor.
BUT………
When trying to start the darn thing – get the message "TOASTER UNABLE TO
GENLOCK" On the "Program out" I see some flashes as I think it is trying to
lock up. (Maybe it does not like the change from uprighjt (my old Amiga 2000)
to its present position lying on its side in the new Amiga 4000/040 !)
Anyhow…. some time ago on one of the Amiga Forums, I did notice that there
was a "fix" for this situation, but being a superior being (at that time).. did
not take the trouble to make some notes.
HELP ! Does anyone know exactly how to proceed in detail. I would give you
my annual blessings !

It could be your Amiga monitor. Is it a Comodore 1084 or is it a Magnavox? If
its the Magnavox you need to get a special cable to make it work.
Your dealer should have this, if not, their is a dealer on this forum who had
previously mentioned that he can supply this cable – but I can't remember his
name.
The monitor pickiness is the only time I have run into the message you have
recieved.

No… it's not the monitor, which is a SONY which I used on my old Amiga 2000.
The NTSC monitor is a JVC engineering monitor, with blue gun, cross pulse and
all the special diagnostics. It is the master monitor in our studio.
Think John Sobernheim has pointed me now in the right direction. One has to
alter some jumpers on the Toaster board – so that it is setup for either the
Amiga 2000 or the 4000. As I had been using it in my old 2000 – I stupidly
forgot about those jumpers. Think (and hope) that when I have corrected my
error, all will go well (At least I hope so!)
Anyhow… many thanks for your input. With Commodore shut down, we Amiga users
have to try and solve our own problems – which I am sure we can do better than
ever Commodore did!
