Gary, <<By different effects do you mean faces that were darker or brighter than they were in different columns?>> Some faces had the appearance of having been punched with a square nibbler others were unaffected. I am trying to be more consistent when I draw the 3d faces to go counter clockwise. I have not tried pfaces. I would guess this might be a headache for 3D Studio but then again it might be better than plain 3dfaces! Thanks for your advice, Bill

Sometimes I just give up and apply two-sided materials, when the fiddling around time outweighs the rendering time… Gary

Ahh, but rendering FOUR times as many faces will make the (proper) modeling time seem cheap in the long run <g>.
