Pardon me if I have missed this in any of the literature, but is
there a way to zoom in on the background image (and pan around)
specifically during the creation of a mask or matte object?
Frequently I need to build mattes for photo-composities and my
current process of trial-and-error is extremely tiring and non-exact.
Thanks in advance.
I love these responses. Seriously. This way I get a chuckle and I no that
that's the end of it. I will quit searching the depths of the manuals.
Thanks.

No. You might try planar-mapping the BG image(s) to a perfectly
screen-sized rectangle, though.
