Harriet, > 1. What is the dictionary/thesaurus file called, and where should it live? > 2. Is an assign for spell.thes necessary, or is something else wrong? Hi. There are two separate files for the WP dictionary (spell-checker) and the thesaurus. The dictionary is called "lex.wp". The user dictionary (that you add your own words to) is called "sup.wp". The thesaurus is called "th.wp". I have all three of these files in the same directory that I have the WP program file. I have them installed on my hard drive in a directory called, WP on partition fh1:. I have three assignments as follows: WP: fh1:WP Spell.Thes: fh1:WP Print: fh1:WP/PRINT So you need to assign WP:, Spell.Thes:, and Print: to the directory that they reside in. Note that I also have a PRINT sub-directory in my WP directory. That directory contains all of the PRINT files. Also note that although the assignment is for "Spell.Thes:", there is no file with that name. "Spell.Thes:" is the volume name of the floppy disk that the dictionary and thesaurus come on. When you install those files on a hard drive, you have to assign the volume name to the correct hard drive partition and directory. I also have a Path command in my user-startup file as follows: Path WP: Print: add Finally, you should use the WP Set-Up program and select the first item to set the path to the Dictionary and Thesaurus files. It will present you with a file requester and allow you to select the path for the main and supplemental dictionaries, and for the thesaurus. Good luck. Please let me know if you have any more questions and if you get everything working. Dom Fontana –> Sent from NY via AP <–
