#Booting Problems

I recently repartitioned my 1.0 gig Micropolis drive into two parts (DH1:
and DH2:) and my separate Seagate is DH0:. Since then, however, it seems
that evey time I turn on the computer (cold boot), when it runs through
the S:user-startup (booting from DH0:), it doesn't recognize any assigns
related to DH0:. However, when I then do a warm boot (CTRL-A-A), it
recognizes everything okay. Does anybody have a clue what this is all
about ? Thanks.

it sounds like you have a slow booting Seagate. Not that unusual,
since Seagates seem to be slow off the mark when a computer boots.
Normally, this isn't a problem on the clones since they have a longer wait
cycle than the Amiga, but you are seeing it since the Amiga ROMs are
programmed to expect a quicker response.
Basically, you have two choices, either continue to do a warm reboot
after power-on, which is what I do, or junk the drive. I just put up with
the reboot after power-on.

The third choice is to download "BattMem" and set the "Seagate Bit" to
make your system wait longer to recognize the drives.

will that work for any Amiga, or just for the 3000?

Any Amiga with the battery-backed RAM attached to the clock. I don't
remember which machines have it. The docs for BattMem probably say, if
not, just try it.
