I urgently need to get Crossdos that came with Workbench 2.1 operational.
I've tried the proceedure for activating the Crossdos drivers using the manual.
Trouble is, I can't get the darned things to work. Everything seems correct
and as the manual says. The PC0 and PC1 drivers are in the dos drivers drawer
of the storage directory. But when I activate them, the floppy drives still
don't recognize MS-DOS disks (I'm using the correct density disks). I've tried
moving the drivers to the dos drivers drawer of the DEVS directory and
rebooting, as the manual says, but still no dice. Do you know what I'm doing
wrong? This is of TREMENDOUS importance to me, so I'd really appreciate any
light you could shed on this subject.

Marc, when operating properly, inserting a disk will produce two icons on
the WB, one for AmiDOS format and one for PC format. Depending on the
format of the disk, one will read ??? and the other will have the disk's
label.
You say you are using proper density disks. This means 720KB formatted
disks on DD (not HD) floppies? If you format a HD floppy as 720KB, a HD
drive will not be able to read it unless you tape over the HD indicator
hole. Or are they 1.44MB disks, in which case you better have a HD drive.
Just double checking …
Make sure the PC driver icons in the Devs:DOSDrivers dir have the
tooltypes UNIT=0 (for PC0), and ACTIVATE=1. I actually renamed PC0 to A
and PC1 to B.

I checked the tooltypes and the disk density, and they are correct. I now have
Crossdos working, but only when I boot from a floppy boor disk, not my hard
drive. I'm still investigating this.

Do you have A-Max or a Bridgeboard also using those drives? You can get
conflicts…
