#bitmap sizing?

I'm having some problems minmizing the size of some maps for 3ds. It seems to
me in the past I have imported a 640×480 flc into a 320×200 screen in AniPro
and used the animcel function to grab screens over time to compress the flic to
320×200…..to back up; the 640×480 flc is not full screen(it's 400×300 or
something, with 0,0,0 background)I guess I'm confused about the method but it's
been a while since I tried this. Also,is there no way to save a bitmap on a
640×480 screen, to a smaller format, i.e. 400×300, except as a cel? thanks in

I would load the 640×480 flic, turn on Time, and CEL/CLIP. I would then enter
the CEL/CEL ANIMATION and save the CEL animation. At this point, you would
have your 400×300 (or so) CEL.
To make this a flic at this resolution, you have to FLIC/FILES/Load and change
the wildcard selector to *.CEL. Load the animation, then save it as a Flic.
You now have a 400×300 FLC.
There are a couple of ways to reduce the Flic to 320×200. If you use Optics to
scale it down, you don't get as good looking a reduction as you would using
ANICONV. I would use ANICONV in this way:
Load ANICONV. Select 320×200 Screen Size and load the 400×300 FLC. In the
first pulldown menu, select SCALE and select the Default 320×200. You can
either save it as an FLI or an FLC at this point. It takes a while to convert
everything, but this is where it does a better job than OPTICS at scaling.
You might not like the fact that the 320×200 image does not maintain the same
aspect ratio as the original. You might have to play around with Maintain
Aspect ratio, or adjust the Width and Height, and deal with the fact that
either part of the resulting Flic will have a blank area, or that you lose part
of the sides.

I'd a never thought to change the extension to >.cel<. Thats great. I
was going the "long way 'round" an just making myself frustrated.

I would save individual frames from the POCO Numpic as .pcx's, then use Alch386
(or Alchemy) to resize the individual frames with the -Xb### -Yb### option (the
b after the X or Y does a better job at scaling than anything else I have
tried), or you can input one of the parameters and mantain the aspect ratio.
Then load the .pcx's again in AA and save them as a new .flc
